We have arrived at the countdown.  Just five weeks to go, and I am happy to say that I am on track to complete this project!  Including this blog post, I will post 3 more times.  The last post will be on my birthday, June 10, exactly one year since I started this blog. Here are the postures we will focus on for this post: Yogadandasana, Supta Bhekasana, Mulabandhasana, Vamadevasana I, Vamadevasana II, Kandasana, Hanumanasana, Samakonasana, Supta Trivikramasana, Urdhva Dhanurasana I, Urdhva Dhanurasana II, Viparita Chakrasana in Urdhva Dhanurasana, Eka Pada Urdhva Dhanurasana, Kapotasana, Laghu Vajrasana, Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana, Eka Pada Viparita Dandasana I, & Eka Pada Viparita...

This blog has shifted several times since I started.  I have had to readjust and reconfigure.  There are 52 weeks in a year, and we are now at week 44.  So, with 7 weeks left and about 50 poses to go it is necessary to continue with the bare bones approach that I have used for my last two blog posts.  I will post pictures and add some commentary, but not a lot. Here are the poses displayed in this post:  Vasisthasana, Kasyapasana, Visvamithrasana (pictured left), Bakasana, Parsva Bakasana, Urdhva Kukkutasana, Parsva Kukkutasana, Galavasana, Eka Pada Galavasana, Dwi Pada Koundinyasana, Eka Pada Koundinyasana I, Eka Pada Koundinyasana II, Eka...

Okay, so here is my installment for week 35, 36, 37 and 38.  I have fallen a bit behind and it is time to REVAMP! It has been a real challenge to keep on track with this project and the postures in this post pose a real challenge also.  My goal is to give you some good tips and tricks to work toward these challenging postures without over-analyzing or over-complicating. The postures for this post are: Pincha Mayurasana, Sayanasana, Adho Mukha Vrksasana, Kurmasana, Supta Kurmasana, Eka Pada Sirsasana, Skandasana, Buddhasana, Kapilasana, Bhairavasana, Kala Bhairavasana, Chakorasana (pictured left), Durvasasana, Ruchikasana, Viranchyasana I, Viranchyasana II, Yoganidrasana, Dwi Pada Sirsasana, and Tittibhasana. Aside from...

This post will be a three week installment and will be based on the premise that PICTURES SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.  I will give some tips and comments,  but will largely let the pictures speak for themselves. It has become much more difficult as of late to keep on the schedule I originally set for this year-long blog, so I am improvising a little.  And while this blog may not look exactly as I originally envisioned, I am determined to FINISH THIS PROJECT! Our postures for week 32, 33 and 34 are...

Last weekend I attended a yoga intensive entitled Alchemize Your Year taught by the incomparable Noah Mazé and Sianna Sherman.  I have never been so aware of the alchemical power of the practice as yoga as I was over this weekend. Alchemy is the process of turning more common, base substances into a substance of great value.  It is a process of transmutation and transformation - and this transmutation, this transformation is something I experience again and again through the practice of yoga. And I can think of no better week to talk about yoga as alchemy!  All of the postures this week are twists.  Twists are deeply cleansing -...

The end of 2013 was a little wild for me.  I moved to Los Angeles from Stockton at the beginning of November, finished a year long yoga teacher training program in mid December, and started two new jobs right before the end of the year. It is a new year now, and I finally feel like I am settling down into a bit of a routine.  I am getting back on track and it feels great! Our postures for week 30 are: Urdhva Prasarita Padasana, Chakrasana, Supta Padangusthasana, Anantasana, Uttana Padasana, AND a BONUS POSE - Setu Bandhasana.  Yes, six postures this week instead of five!...
